Font Friday: Wadi
Happy font friday everyone! I’m happy to see the weekend but sad to think this is our third last weekend in Dubai! Wow time flies. Inspired by my time in the Middle East today I’d like to share an arabic font created by designer Dinah Merhej. Wadi is a simplified modern Arabic typeface influenced by the Naskh calligraphical style. It is characterized by the absence of straight baseline and the cursive connection between the glyphs. Furthermore, Wadi consists of thin vertical strokes and thick horizontal strokes. The typeface looks more dynamic, sophisticated and harmonious.
I think the Arabic script is so beautiful. I wish I knew how to read and write it!
So what do you think? Beautiful right? We incorporated a little bit of Middle Eastern flavour into our wedding with Arabic table numbers and a print that I designed for each guest to take home. The characters I used represented family and travel. Two very important things in our lives!
